Project Location

Viera High School is located at 6103 Stadium Parkway, Viera, FL.

Project Overview

Design and construct new Viera High School consisting of 6 buildings (5 under contract with 1 future): administration, cafeteria, multi-purpose auditorium, music, media, gymnasium, enhanced hurricane protected area (EHPA), and classrooms for 2338 students.  The project has 298,100 GSF and is on 50 acres.  There will be a football stadium, tennis and basketball courts and parking with a driver's education course.  The construction is reinforced concrete block with conventional steel framing.  Work will be completed prior to the start of the 2006-07 school year.

Project Budget

The School Board approved total budget for this project is $46,264,812 which includes a Design Cost of $1,572,035.00 and a Construction Cost of $39,377,424.00.

Delivery Method

This project has been designed and is being constructed using the Construction Management at Risk delivery method.  The School Board of Brevard County selected a Schenkel Shultz prototype design.  H.J. High Construction Company was selected as the Construction Management firm in accordance with the Consultants Competitive Negotiations Act (CCNA), a qualifications based selection process described in Section 287.055 (5) F.S.

Program Management

Facilities Planning and Project Management Services will manage the project with Schenkel Shultz the Design Professional, various School Board approved Continuing Contract Professionals, in-house engineering and technical staff.
